An exercise in shotgun blogging
An hour is a long time to let me loose with a keyboard...
Which got me thinking about the number of activities in which I have partaken these past few days which have taken roughly an hour. How much does one accomplish in such a measure of time? Let's examine.
1. Calling Monash to determine whether my enrolment ID needed to be a Victorian driver's lisence. This particular task perhaps shouldn't count as my objective was never reached. Rather, it was an hour of stirring classical music and the soul crushingly cheerful voice of the call holding lady, who pops in every 5 minutes to thank me for holding the line, as my call is progressing in the que. Oddly enough, she has the same voice which now narrates my nightmares.
2. Phone calls from female friends, in an attempt to mend broken hearts. "Yes, sweetie, of course you can do better. No darling, I'm absolutely sure that it wasn't because you wore the blue shirt instead of the red one. Yes, I know, he is an asshole. No, I'm sure he did like you, maybe he has underlying psychological issues. You know what? He's probably gay. Actually, definitely gay. I'm thinking maybe lets not break into his house and steal all of his potted plants." Similarly, MAKING such phonecalls to friends. "Do you think I came on a little strong? Do you think I should have worn the other shoes? Do you think maybe if I call him 10 000 times he'll realise that he loves me?"
3. Staring blankly at facebook. It masquerades as a social networking site. I see through that facade to it's true evil. It is, in reality, a soul devouring void. Really. I never used to care whether Sam was a fan of staying in bed all day, or whether Tim had asked Jess to the movies. What has become of my life? Then there is facebook's most effective instrument of evil - farmville. Why am I growing virtual crops? I don't know. What does it possibly achieve? Not a clue. How long have I stared at them for? Yet another hour. Oops. I guess that should have been number 4.
5. Getting lost in the law library. This may sound a little pathetic, but really, there is nothing better than a good hour's worth of getting oneself lost. That, and the law library is possibly my every dream made a reality. Large leather armchairs, portraits of judges, leather bound books dating back to the 1800s. I think I've found my home. That, and getting oneself lost allows one to visit such a glorious place without the guilt of not having put any work at all towards an assignment. See, clearly I am being studious. I'm in the library, aren't I? I'll get my assignment done, as soon as I find it again...
6. Deciding which pokemon to start Blue again with. See, Charmander is so tempting, but so ineffective against water types. I've finished the game with Squirtle more than once, so clearly a solid investment. But Bulbasaur is so cute...
7. Wondering why my toast wouldn't cook, before remembering to plug in the toaster. Alright, okay. So I'm not the best with kitchen appliances. You're listening to a girl who burns toasted cheese sandwhiches and overheats tinned spagetti. This is nothing.
8. Writing this blog post. Damacus, you owe me an hour of my life. Well, okay, maybe half an hour. I got hungry.
Edit: 9. Clearing the mess from my disasterous macaroni and cheese attempt. I should stick to blogging.

Definitely Charmander. He's a late bloomer, but it's totally worth it. Also, eventually he can fly. Flying is awesome.
A wonderful exploration of the enigmatic idea that is productivity. Such words of wisdom come at a particularly fortuitous time, considering the complete lack of worthwhile things i have accomplished since school finished. Ambrus Travillion, you impress me and i look forward to hearing more from you. PS. I also love being "lost" in libraries and book stores for that matter.
Also i think number two, might suggest you've been watching a bit too much sex and the city.
Nice shotgun... considering it's only the 2nd?
It's good to see some variation coming out in D.I.D. ... but an hour on toast? I swear everyone's got a toast story... theme blog day idea or something?
Fantastic. I also like that it was different to our usual posts. Good work
Yeah, verrrry nice. Thanks for rescuing us from postlessdom. Great style and entertaining.
